Who is Raven Saunders?
Raven Saunders is an American athlete best known for shot put and discus throw. She has won two shot put championships and earned her fame in several others.
She is the daughter of Herbert Johnson and Clarissa Saunders. Not to forget, Saunders has a sister named Tanzania.
Raven attended Burke High School in Charleston, South Carolina. Then, she got enrolled at Southern Illinois University. Later, she jumped to the University of Mississippi and competed for the Ole Miss Rebels track team.
Recently, in Tokyo Olympics, Saunders bagged a Silver in the women’s shot put finale. She gave her best with a distance of 19.79m.
Saunders initiated her career at an early age and got recognized for winning the 2014 US Junior Championships. Eventually, she participated in the 2014 World Junior Championships in Athletics in Eugene, Oregon and earned a Silver.
Likewise, Raven has won the 2016 NACAC U23 Championships and the 2015 Pan American Junior Championships. Similarly, she created a good impression on the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, by obtaining the 5th position.
