Pat Sajak was born on October 26, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois. His parents  Leonard Anthony Sajdak and Joyce Helen raised him in Chicago. At Sajak’s very young age, his father passed away. In fact, Leonard was a factory worker. Later, he went to  Farragut High School. Subsequently, he attended Columbia College Chicago in 1964.


Early Career:

Interestingly, Sajak started his career as a guest DJ in a radio show. Later, he DJ’ed for  Murray, Kentucky, and WSM. Sajak joined the US Army in 1968. Then, he deployed to Vietnam. Specifically, Pat worked on Armed Forces Radio as a disc jockey. He made his on-screen debut on WSMV-TV.

In 1977, he joined Los Angeles based KNBC-TV. Particularly, he served as a full-time weatherman. In 1981, Sajak was hired as the host of the television game show Wheel of Fortune. What’s more, Wheel has signed Pal as host until 2022. Wheel was created in 1975 as a daytime series for NBC. For his work in the show, the host has received nineteen nominations for Daytime Emmy Award. Also, he won the award three times as an outstanding game show host. In 2019, he became the longest-running host of any game show, surpassing Bob Barker. For the same, he was honored by the Guinness World Records.
